India has secured the operational rights for a terminal at Mongla Port in Bangladesh.
It is the second largest port in Bangladesh, and lies close to the shore of the Bay of Bengal and the Pashur river.
This development is witnessed as part of New Delhi’s broader efforts to counter Beijing’s increasing influence in the Indian Ocean and to gain a foothold in strategically important foreign ports.
