Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has invited Request for Proposal (RfP) bids for preparation of Detailed Feasibility Report (DFR) cum Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Chennai Water Metro Project in Tamil Nadu. The last date for bid submission is September 18, 2026.
The work is expected to be completed in 240 days.
The project involves development of a water transport system from Ennore to Mamallapuram along the Buckingham Canal, covering approximately 53 km, to provide an alternative public transport system and improve multimodal connectivity with metro rail, suburban rail and other public transport systems in Chennai.
